The Future Smiles Dental Clinic is the only school-based dental clinic in an elementary school in Arkansas. The clinic located at Wakefield Elementary School opened May 2005 and provides preventative and restorative services for children in the six elementary schools. The clinic is open four days a week with services provided three days a week. Clinic staff includes two dentists, dental hygiene students from UAMS Dental Hygiene Clinic, dental assistant, and dental coordinator. The clinic is the result of a collaboration of 12 organizations which make up the Dental Action Team which includes the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, Arkansas Children's Hospital, Delta Dental Plan of Arkansas, LRSD, Children International, and United Way of Pulaski County.
