Family Services

Helping parents with emergency assistance, leadership skills, and providing practical gifts for children is the focus of the Family Services area of Children Intrernational.

Family Assistance

UALR Children International assists families in emergency situations with clothing and food. Children International does not provide utility or housing assistance but will connect families to local resources to assist. If you know of a child or family who needs assistance, please contact our office immediately. During the year UALR Children International partners with schools to co-sponsor events such as a spring Family Fun Day and Back-to-School Jamboree in August. Families are always encouraged to participate in these fun activities.

Practical Gifts

All children in UALR Children International receive four $25 gifts per year. Refer to page 5 for a list of these gifts. Occasionally, sponsors send additional gifts to children or families, such as clothing, books, or toys. UALR Children International staff will work with parents and school staff to identify needs. These special gifts may be delivered directly to a child in their school or parents may be asked to drop by the UALR Children International office.

Parent Council

Parent representatives from the seven partner schools, Youth Programs and PTA representatives make up the Parent Council. The Council assists UALR Children International with improving communication and building a parent volunteer corps. The Volunteer Coordinator works with the Council, and they meet 3-4 times each year.
